STA Travel's Social Responsibility

Our People, Our World, Our Actions

Since 1979, STA Travel has been at the forefront of creating unforgettable adventures for students and young people. Today, we are the world's largest student and youth travel company, sending over two million travellers away each year to Start The Adventure.

But with great adventure, comes great social responsibility.

Our Social Responsibility

In the same way that we pioneered the way for travellers over 35 years ago, we are proud of the industry-wide benchmarks we have set. STA Travel is privileged to partner with international wildlife charity the Born Free Foundation. Together we are committed to upholding an industry-wide benchmark for safeguarding the wellbeing and protection of animals, to improve their welfare across all of our operations.

When it comes to practicing social responsibility, we think globally AND locally. From the lighting and recycling programmes in our stores, to how we deliver travel documents to our customers' mobiles, we are constantly reviewing the way we work and the impact we have. We work with partners who offer carbon offsets, employ ethical work practices, and hand pick suppliers who share our values and our own customer safety standards.
Our People
As an employer, we ensure that we meet or exceed employment standards, have policies in place to protect human rights, and afford our people  develop in our diverse and multicultural workplace.
Our World
Over the last five decades, we've helped millions of travellers form connections with the places they visit, watching them return with a greater sense of the world we share.
Our Actions
We believe that travel has the power to creative a positive and lasting impact. We only work with credible partners to secure travel experiences responsible and sustainable.

Supporting Young People Living with Cancer Worldwide

In 2015, we joined forces with teen cancer charities around the world to create a collaborative global campaign, using our worldwide store network and digital reach to help support young people battling cancer. Through participating in fund raising and volunteering events; such as fun runs, telethons and bandana days, teen cancer trusts give our people the opportunity to directly engage with, raise vital funds and promote awareness for teenage cancer.

Our global partnership with CanTeen Australia, CanTeen New Zealand, Teenage Cancer America and the Teenage Cancer Trust in the UK will allow us to work on a global front to fight the disease. Progressively, we will seek charity partners in Central Europe, Asia and South Africa to join our cause.

Animal Welfare Policy

In partnership with the Born Free Foundation, we operate a pioneering animal welfare policy. Risk assessing all of our products, we have taken a "stop-sell" stance on experiences such as the Tiger Temple in Thailand and San Fermin Festival in Pamplona. As we continue our risk assessment, we will only offer products where suppliers ensure the wellbeing and protection of animals.
